What are priority debts?

Priority debts are those which would have serious consequences if you failed to repay. The best example of a priority debt is your mortgage or rent payments, as failing to pay these could mean that you lose your home. Other priority debts include council tax, court fines, energy bills, income tax, and National Insurance.
